IFR 2008
VEGA International Friendship Regatta
30th June – 5th July 2008 Harwich England

The 22nd IFR will be held in the UK at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, near Ipswich in 2008.

The IFR gives you exactly what it says on the can; it is international with Vega sailors from, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, USA, and Great Britain; and it is certainly friendly as anyone who has attended an IFR can testify. The regatta caters for all types of sailors, for some the highlight of the week is the chance to compete against some very good Vega sailors in the racing class or if you wish to be slightly more relaxed to compete in the Cruising and Non-standard class.

For many attendees the opportunity to socialise and swap ideas with fellow Vega sailors is the most important aspect of the week.

It is a chance to meet old Vega friends and make new ones in convivial surroundings. Next year we are extremely lucky to be able to hold our rally within the premises of the Royal Harwich YC overlooking the River Orwell near the famous old barge port of Pin Mill on the East Coast of England. The Preliminary Program is as follows:

Monday June 30th Registration of boats and sailors and the Opening Ceremony
Tuesday July 1stRest Day and get together. Vega One Design Association Bi-Annual Meeting. Evening Buffet & entertainment.
Wednesday July 2ndFirst Racing Day and informal entertainment in the evening.
Thursday July 3rdSecond Racing Day and informal entertainment in the evening.
Friday July 4thOrganised excursion to local point of interest during day and Rally Dinner in the evening with Prize Giving and speeches.
Saturday July 5thClosing Ceremony and Farewell to the Royal Harwich Yacht Club

Berthing costs for the five nights will be approximately £70.00 and there will be additional modest costs for the boats participating in the racing. Costs for the events will be kept as reasonable as possible. The Regatta Dinner and excursion costs will be determined before final booking forms are sent out.
