Te Arawa V1847
Te
Arawa has now found a home in Lowestoft, owned by Graham Harris. She was kept for
many years on Itchenor Reach, Chichester. Firstly by Neville Bolding and then by
Tim Chart for a couple of seasons. Whilst owned by Neville Bolding she earned
the nickname of TEAR-AWAY instead of Te Arawa which is Maori for The Shark. She
was often seen at VAGB get-togethers on The Solent and my first meeting with Te
Arawa and Neville Bolding was to catch his mooring lines as he sailed onto the
pontoon at The Folly Inn in the Medina, Isle of Wight whilst supping a glass of
brandy with his other hand. A truly remarkable sailor is our Neville, a shame he
sold his Vega and scaled down to a 23 foot bilge keeler. Te Arawa is equipped
with the standard MD6A Diesel and Combi gearbox. A pretty Vega that is now
exploring the East Coast and giving her new owner, Graham Harris, his first
taste of yacht ownership.
